I am trying to improve my life. I am trying to eat better and exercise more. I have learned over the last few years some tricks to help me along the way. I would like to share those with you.

Food is something we all have to consume to get energy and nurishment each and every day. We all have favorite things we like to eat. Some people have cravings for certain foods that aren’t good for them. Others could eat vegetables and thrive on a vegan diet indefinitely. I think the rule to remember is moderation in all things. Don’t deny or deprive yourself of your favorite foods. Just don’t over eat.

There are some foods that really help us to lose weight. Fruits and vegetables are wonderful and we can pretty much eat as much as we want. But we also need fiber and we can get this from legumes and nuts. Also eating a breakfast of foods like oatmeal(with fruit) or quinoa which can be used like rice. Super foods like berries, sweet potatoes, broccoli, wholewheat bread, nuts, fish, and brown rice are great for lunch and dinner meals. Leans cuts of chicken and beef if you wish.

We need to think energy in the morning, continued energy for lunch and a small dinner. Too many of us do just the opposite or miss breakfast entirely. Then we pack away something fatty and caloric for lunch. This leaves us with a feeling of needing a nap by early afternoon. Our bodies are ready to shut down for sleep in the evening yet we still stuff it with food. If you aren’t mssing meals and are eating good food then you won’t feel deprived or hungry. Small meals and healthy foods throughout the day will keep our energy level up all day. Don’t forget that some exercise early or mid-day can revitalize you.

I think there are three things to remember: Move, move and move. Move in exercise. Move away from the table. Move to your next level.

Move in exercise- Find the type of exercise you can enjoy. Check out a yoga class. Check out some low impact exercises online or at your local gym. If it isn’t something you can enjoy your aren’t going to stick with it long. When you do find some exercise you enjoy mix it up occasionally so you don’t get bored.

Move away from the table- Use a smaller plate. Drink water before the meal, and be a thoughtful eater. Think about the amount of chewing your are doing, how it tastes, be concious of eating. Overweight people tend to eat without thinking. They can finish off a bag of chips or container of Haggendaz and not even realize it. Settle on what you will eat for the day. Keeping a journal on what you eat is a good idea. Make a menu and stick to it.

Move to the next level- Don’t get bored. Change your exercise schedule around after a few weeks. Doing the same exercises over and over would be boring for anyone even the most devoted. Move on to the next level of your exercising experience. Try new things. Get on a bike or try something new. Walking is great exercise and can be added when you don’t have time to go to the gym or go to the class you have selected.

Don’t get into the habit of weighing yourself all the time. If you should gain even half a pound it could completely turn you around and make you want to quit completely. One time a week at the same time is fine.

Each organ in our bodies needs water to operate properly. Drink filtered water in the morning, noon and up until 8p.m. in the evening. It will help you to flush out the toxins and trash you need to get out of your system.

In Conclusion

If you commit to just one healthy change every six months you may be very happy the next time you weigh yourself. Think about journaling. You might be surprised at what foods you are eathing and when. How do they make you feel? Living a more healthy life will help you to stay around alot longer.
