Invaluable Lessons I’ve Learned

Always be thankful for what you have, and what you don’t have.

Thank God whenever you open your eyes and can smell, breathe and live another day! It’s a fresh, blank canvas just waiting for you to paint on it as you like. Learn to love what you have been blessed with…Anything else is not worth your happiness or peace of mind. Accept what you cannot change. Behind that door might not be what you expect it to be.

Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

Words are powerful and have the ability to bite! Speak from the heart, but with wisdom.

Smile from the inside out, it’s the smallest charitable act.

So you may not be able to move mountains. But you can smile. 🙂 And little by little, that can change the world.

Give to others what you love for yourself.

When you give (anything), give from what you love the most. A material loss can be a huge spiritual gain.

Be patient with life’s tests.

Failing class. Lost a loved one. Jobless. Broken heart. Sleepless nights with a new baby! Whatever it is, patience is key to get you back on that track, slowly but surely. Anything else shouts “chaos!” It may be one of the hardest things to build on, but once you achieve it, the outcome is priceless.

Have faith in God, no matter what.

Have faith, not just in your heart, but in the One who made your heart. The one who put you here to live your life. That’s an amazing thing. Turn to Him when you are down, when you are overjoyed, and all moments in between.

The best face you can wear is your own.

Be yourself, and nobody else. Anywhere and anytime, you are who you are, period. And that’s simply beautiful. If someone can’t appreciate that, they’re not worth your precious time.

Time is not waiting on you!

Open your eyes and enjoy what’s right in front of you. In a moment, it could all be gone. Don’t just sit there, get up and do what you’ve always wanted to. You’ll be happy you did. 🙂

Your parents are your best friends. They had to put up with you, after all!

I’m sure almost all of us can relate : Pain like no other in the entire universe, otherwise known as Childbirth, sleepless nights, messes and fixer uppers, tantrums, etc, etc, etc! Ring a bell? And of course there’s that very first “mama” or “dad”, that first booboo, the hugs, the kisses. Who was there for you when you had no one else? Your parents were. They deserve all that you can give from love and appreciation. Never, ever forget that.

All that I hope to be today–as I try my hardest to raise my kids and teach them the same–I thank God and my parents, for teaching me these invaluable and forever memorable lessons, and so much more. I hope you will too.

Be peaceful, and forever breathe happy.
