There are ways to reduce the appearance of cellulite, though it might not disappear completely.

First, What is Cellulite?

We know what it looks like. It’s been called cottage cheese thighs. It’s a lumpy appearance to the backs of the thighs, buttocks and stomach typically, although, it can appear in different places on the body. If you’ve ever poked and prodded at these lumpy places in your body, now you’ll know what to call it when you curse at it.

How is it Caused?

Cellulite is caused when fat bulges and can be seen pressing against the skin. This can occur for a variety of reasons. There are extra fat deposits in those problem areas because of your age, hormones and dietary choices. It can also be caused by genes. If your mother had cellulite, you will be prone to it too.

Fight the Bumps

You don’t have to be overweight to have cellulite, but according to Your Tea health tips, you have to be willing to work with your body and change your diet in order to kick cellulite out .

Foods to Break Down Fat

There are certain foods that are rich in antioxidants. Antioxidants break down fat deposits. It might not get rid of the fat, but it will break down the cells which will reduce the size of the bulges.

Salmon

The fatty acids found in omega-3 foods can repair the skin and decrease toxins. If the skin is repaired, the fat deposits won’t be able to push against the skin and be as noticeable.

Sunflower Seeds and Peppers

While this doesn’t sound like a great recipe combination, these two foods are high in B6. This vitamin helps process protein, which is important for connective tissue in the body. They are also natural diuretics that reduce water gain and bloating, which reduces the appearance of cellulite.

Lean Meats

Cellulite is noticeable because the body’s connective tissue is breaking down. Collagen is the connective tissue, and high protein foods help rebuild the connective tissue. It strengthens the skin and repairs any damage.

Herbal Tea

Teas like green tea and ginger tea have an ingredient called EGCG that speeds metabolism. That’s why you see green tea supplements in the weight loss aisle of the supermarket. In a tea form, these ingredients will work to flush out toxins as well. They also have caffeine, which makes them a great morning drink.

Olive Oil

Not all fats are bad for you. This can be incredibly confusing when you’re trying to get rid of fatty deposits under the skin. The good fats contain omega-3s and omega-6s. The key is to stick with unsaturated fats from oils, nuts and seeds in their natural form.

Adding these foods to your diet will shrink the appearance of cellulite in the body. If you change your diet while adding in targeted exercise for the problem areas, the bumps and bulges should become dramatically reduced over time. The body has to repair itself, so you can’t expect it to happen overnight, but it will happen.
