When you travel through different time zones, your internal body clock can become out of sync, causing jet lag. It’s been proven that using a combination of natural essential oils in the bath or shower twice a day will assist you in adapting to a new time zone. Essential oils come in very small bottles that can be carried in your purse or briefcase.

The appropriate fragrance should be used before starting the day and before going to bed for as many days as the time zones you have passed through. You can use the scented oils to help your body adjust to your new location. When you arrive at your new location, try to stay awake and adjust to local time. Use the evening oil combination before going to bed. Use 2 drops of peppermint and 2 drops of eucalyptus to keep you awake. For going to sleep, use 2 drops each of geranium and lavender.

You can also mix these oils with body wash or body lotion. Pack along a small bottle of your favourite essential oils and add a few drops to the complimentary toiletries in the hotel for a bit of quick aromatherapy. A little lavender added to your bath will relax you better and prepare you for a good night sleep. Some amount of physical activity also helps to relax you mentally and improves the quality of your sleep.

You can use the essential oils in different ways. If you have no time, you can put the drops on a handkerchief and sniff a couple of times. This idea is good because you can have an aromatherapy session in public waiting room or in the flight. You can also use the oil to massage your head or torso before going for a shower. It does not hurt to mix it in your shampoo or conditioner and the fragrance stays with you for a while.

Chamomile tea is can also be used to overcome anxiety while flying from one place to another. Tea is not only good for consumption but also help you treat your puffy eyes. It is normal to miss your sleep if you are taking a long flight or travelling at night. All you need to do to use this technique is wet the tea bags and place them over your eye lids. You can also put the tea bags in your bath tub filled with warm water. Use chamomile tea to relax in the evening and peppermint tea in the morning to freshen you up.

I have personally found it very effective to use these methods along with a few others to beat jet lags and time zone differences. It really helps to be alert and stress-free especially if you are travelling for work.
