As we all know, the way we feel on the inside is the way we look on the outside. Our bodies are sacred and we should take good care of them. Which is not always the case but there are definitely some foods that are better for you than you think.

1. Blueberries

Blueberries are extremely rich with antioxidants – the amount is one of the highest compared to all other fruits. Blueberries also contain plenty of vitamins C and A and protect against memory loss, blindness, heart disease, cancer and more. And they are pretty delicious, too.

2. Tomatoes

You thought our next food is something more interesting? Nope. Most Westerners eat tomatoes in one form or another practically every day, but you probably don’t know how healthy they are. Once at the market, you should always choose red tomatoes – not just for flavor, but because they contain more antioxidants. You also need to know that even processed tomatoes are good for you. Studies show that tomatoes protect against lung, prostate, skin and stomach cancers.

3. Broccoli

Cancer’s worst enemy. Broccoli prevents from this disease better than any other fruit or vegetable. It contains plenty of vitamins – A, C, and K. This vegetable can be cooked any way you’d like – baked, steamed or even raw. But roasted? Amazing.

4. Spinach

Try to include spinach in your meals as much as you can – it is a vitamin bomb. It contains vitamins A, C, and K, E, and B. But it doesn’t stop there. Spinach also produces fiber, iron, calcium and magnesium. It is beautifully rich in omega-3s that reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

5. Beans

Beans are a great source of iron (which transports oxygen from the lungs to the cells in your body). If you don’t enjoy multiple bean varieties, then force yourself to eat black beans at least. They are full of anthocyanins (antioxidants) that are proven to increase brain function.

6. Oats

Oats contain plenty of soluble fiber, which reduces the risk of a heart attack. They also lower the cholesterol and blood pressure in your body. One cup a day can lower your cholesterol by 5% and heart attack risk by 10%.

7. Nuts

Studies show that those who eat nuts regularly, add an extra two and a half years to their lives. Nuts are extremely good for your health. But if you want to focus on one of them, choose walnuts. They are rich in omega-3s, full of anti-inflammatory polyphenols, and packed with muscle-building protein. All the other nuts usually contain only two of these three awesome features.

8. Oranges

One orange a day can give you the amount of all vitamin C you need. And that’s important because ‘C’ is crucial for producing white blood cells. It’s high in fiber and folate and also helps firm up your skin.

Taking care of your body is important in order for you to be healthy and full of energy. Eating these foods frequently will help you stay healthy and feel great.
