4 Tips for Beauty Over 50

No one likes getting older, but for us women, aging almost never does good for our looks like it does for some men. There is nothing wrong about wanting to look the best you can no matter what age you are and while the advancing age has its inevitable effects on the looks of even the most beautiful women, there are a lot of things that we can do for our physical appearance well in our 50s and on.

1. Keep your hair healthy and fresh Hair suffers as the result of advancing age, especially if you have dyed your hair for decades. It gets drier as time goes by and this affects the look of the hair. The good news is that there are so many products these days that are developed and designed for making the hair moisturized and shiny fresh. Another way to look younger when hair is in question is to come up with a hairstyle that will be youthful and that will give out an impression of someone who is at least a few years younger.

2. Protect your skin Even the skin of 20-year olds is at a constant threat of photodamage, especially if you live in an area with long summers and a lot of sunny days during the year. As you get older, this damage becomes more and more noticeable and it is more important than ever to wear sunscreen and sunglasses. Of course, the best thing to do is to start protecting your skin while you are young. Consider it as an investment into your future. Smoking also damages the skin and, if for no other reason; you should stop smoking to keep your skin more youthful.

3. Know how to use makeup There are so many tips for women over the age of 50 when it comes to make-up that we could write a book, but there are several basic things to consider and keep in your mind when makeup is in question. First of all, a good idea is to go with creams instead of powders, no matter what type of makeup we are talking about. Older skin is drier skin and “liquid” products will be much better for your skin. It is also important to find that balance where you will achieve a younger look but where you will not overdo it. A good idea might be to talk to a professional – they will be able to give you invaluable advice on actual practices that you should employ in the future.

4. (Re)Consider medical solutions Cosmetic surgery and various medical skin rejuvenation methods have gone a long way and there are plenty of things that you can get done these days that will look perfectly natural while giving you a look of an individual at least 5 years younger. Some are more invasive or may have scary names but they are perfectly safe and also very effective, of course, provided that you find a reputable and renowned practice.
